Delta Golf & Country Club Is Keeping The Lights On Longer
The only place in the Lower Mainland to play golf in the dark is proving successful enough to expand…
The centrally located course has seen many upgrades since Kuldeep Bansal took over in 2015 chief among them the addition of lights for night golf.
Bansal and General Manager / Superintendent Grant Steinberg started talking about the idea of night golf back in 2019 (see story by Brad Zeimer HERE).
In that article, Steinberg explained that Bansal saw night golf while travellng in Dubai, “He travels to Dubai on a regular basis and we were talking about a year and half ago about the golf courses over there that have lights and he said wouldn’t that be cool to do here. We kind of got to talking about how much it would cost and after doing a cost-benefit analysis it made total sense, especially with the way golf has blown up right now.”
The experiment has proven successful enough that they have expanded the night golf to five days a week :)
The lights were turned on in 2021 and fast forward three years and it has become busy enough to run Tuesday through Saturday.
On their Facebook page, they announced the expansion, “We’re thrilled to announce that, with the increasing demand, our Night Golf days has been extended! From now you can enjoy more number of days playing golf under the lights, creating an unforgettable golfing experience… Please note that reservations are highly recommended for Night Golf to ensure availability.”
The lights mean you can play eighteen starting at 6PM.
The addition of lights is just part of the investment in upgrading the infrastructure and operations. When he cam on board, Steinberg was tasked him with taking the club to the next level and to improve the playing conditions. And it’s showing. These days the greens are averaging an impressive 11+ on the Stimp meter.
Night golf starts in June and will continue through to October. Nine holes after 9PM is $40 + tax. You can book online or you can Call the Proshop at (604) 594-1414 ext.3.
